Request a Free ConsultationWe've drilled hundreds of wells all over town since the 90s. The eastern hills have different challenges than the downtown areas, and we've worked through it all. Our crews know exactly what to expect when drilling in Ruby Hill versus drilling near the Alameda County Fairgrounds. That local knowledge means we hit water faster and set up systems that actually last.
We've been digging wells in Pleasanton since the 90s, so we've pretty much seen everything the ground can throw at us. The eastern part of town has completely different soil than downtown - you can't approach them the same way. We've had to figure out all the tricks over the years, and honestly made plenty of mistakes along the way. Now our guys can usually tell what we're going to hit before we even start drilling. That's not something you can learn overnight.
The calcium-rich water in parts of Pleasanton can wreck pumps if you don't know what you're doing. We use heavier-duty pipes and specialized filtration on our Pleasanton installations because we've learned what it takes for a system to last 20+ years here instead of breaking down after 5. Our customers don't want to think about their water systems - they just want them to work.
We have drilled many types of wells in the Pleasanton area - everything from a basic home well to more complex systems for businesses. Getting our drilling rigs into some of those fancy Pleasanton neighborhoods like Vintage Hills can be tricky, and Ruby Hill's has some narrow, winding roads. We've figured out which equipment fits into what locations. The soil tends to change a lot across town too - sandy stuff down by the fairgrounds, harder clay and rock up in the hills. After 30 years here, we've pretty much seen it all.

We've partnered with Concord Water Heater Service, the regional experts in water heating, to provide specialized systems that prevent scaling and extend equipment life. Together, we ensure your well water is properly heated while protecting your investment from the damaging effects of hard water minerals common in Pleasanton wells.
In outlying areas of Pleasanton where municipal sewer isn't available, we design and install complete septic systems. We handle everything from soil testing to permitting through Alameda County. Our installations meet all local city codes.
A homeowner was looking for a reliable source of water for their large garden so we installed a 250-foot well after drilling to a depth of about 180 feet. The system we installed included a variable-speed pump and a UV-resistant 1,500-gallon storage tank. This system provided the needed water pressure for irrigation without affecting nearby wells.
This was a very large property that needed both drinking and irrigation water. We decided to drill a high-capacity 300-foot well, installed a multi-stage filtration system, and set up three storage tanks to handle their water demands. The homeowner has not had to use city water for their garden in over two years.
A local smaller size farm needed reliable water for their organic crops. My engineers designed a solar-powered pump system with a 5,000-gallon storage tank that reduced their electricity costs while also providing consistent irrigation.
"Mike and his engineers were very professional. They showed up when promised, explained everything clearly, and gave us a detailed report showing exactly the cost and what every piece of equipment did. Our well has been working better than expected for two years now. Best home improvement decision we've made."
"After getting a few quotes from different companies, we chose Mike, at Water Well Drilling & Pump Service because he clearly knew Pleasanton's geology better than anyone else. Mike and his guys found water exactly where they said they would, and the installation was done in the time frame Mike said it would be."
"We've had our well for over a year now. It's saved us thousands on water bills, especially during the hotter months when the rates where higher. Mike has been out twice for regular maintenance and to check on the well and the equipment, both times he was very prompt and professional."
Most folks don't realize this, but the southern part of town near those old gravel pits - you know, the Chain of Lakes area - that's where we hit the best water. Those lakes feed the underground water table pretty well. We've had good luck in Vintage Hills and Valley Trails too - usually hit decent water without going too deep. The eastern hills can be tricky though. Sometimes we have to go pretty deep out there, and the water flow isn't always great. When we come out to look at your property, we check what's happening with your neighbors' wells to give you a real idea of what to expect.
Zone 7 runs the show around here for water stuff. They've gotten pickier over the years with all the drought issues. You can still put in a residential well, but there's more paperwork than there used to be. The good news is that when the city puts in watering restrictions, they can't really control what you do with your own well water. That's a big reason people call us. We handle all the permit headaches - we know what Zone 7 wants to see on the applications. We've seen outside contractors miss some of their requirements and have to start the whole process over.
The ground's just different here than over in Oakland or Berkeley. We don't hit nearly as much rock in most of Pleasanton, especially in the flatter areas. Instead, we get these layers of sand and gravel. The water flows better through that stuff, but sometimes we have to be extra careful with the well screens to keep sand out of your water. Most Pleasanton lots have more space too, which makes our job easier - we can actually get our equipment in without tearing up your whole yard. The water's usually cleaner here than over in eastern Contra Costa. Less sulfur smell and iron staining. Though if you're right up against the ridge on the west side, you might get more minerals.
